Menatel has been operating in Egypt since 1998 under a license to install, operate, and manage a public telephone network for a period of ten years. In 2005, the company obtained a license from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to extend the operation period until 2015.
The company’s share capital is held by:
- National Bank of Egypt – 33.9%
- El Ahly Telecommunications Company – 4.9%
- Atcom Company – 23.2%
- Egytel Company – 33.9%
Additionally, Telecom Egypt owns a 3.8% stake in Menatel, while the remaining shares are distributed among several local and foreign investment funds as well as individual shareholders.
